Ahmad Subaih
Ahmad Ibrahim Mohammad Subaih Born in Amman, Jordan, on February 28, 1965, Ahmad Ibrahim Mohammad Subaih is a Jordanian visual artist and fine arts educator with a long-standing career in art, design, and cultural education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Yarmouk University (1988). Ahmad worked for many years at the Ministry of Education as a textbook illustrator in the Department of Curriculum and Textbooks for Drawing and Design Affairs. He later retired from this position and continues to work as a Fine Arts Teacher at Shehrazad Cultural Center – Amman. Throughout his career, Ahmad has participated in more than ten solo and group exhibitions both inside and outside Jordan. His exhibitions include shows at Petra Bank Gallery, Baladna Gallery in Amman, Amnesty International Gallery in Vienna, Greater Amman Municipality, the Spanish Cultural Center, the Association of Fine Artists in Jordan, the Pakistani Embassy in Amman, as well as exhibitions in Bahrain, Cairo, and Bulgaria. Ahmad has received several awards, including an Appreciation Award from the Spanish Ambassador in Amman during the Young Artists Exhibition in 1989, an Appreciation Award from the Spanish Cultural Center in 2001, and he was the first Jordanian artist to receive the Creative Full-Time Award. His works are included in important collections, such as the Ministry of Culture, Greater Amman Municipality, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Hindiya Museum of Art in Amman, and the Spanish Embassy in Amman, in addition to private collectors inside and outside Jordan. In addition to painting, Ahmad has worked extensively in design and advertising with several Jordanian companies. He is also known for his specialization in recycling and working with waste materials, through which he has held five exhibitions. His large-scale artistic projects include creating a large model at Kashih Factory in Jordan and a large ship model at the University of Jordan – Aqaba Branch. Ahmad Subaih has also contributed to the literary field by creating book covers for numerous poets and writers, including the novel “Memory of the Body” by Ahlam Mosteghanemi, published in both Arabic and English and circulated internationally.
